Former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain boss, Mauricio Pochettino, is among four managers reportedly on Manchester United’s shortlist to replace Ruben Amorim if results fail to improve at Old Trafford.
According to TouchlineX, the other names on the list are Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, and England coach Gareth Southgate.
Naija News reports that Amorim, who joined the club in November 2024, is under intense scrutiny after United’s dismal start to the new campaign.
The Red Devils have picked up just four points from their opening four matches — their worst start to a season in 33 years.
Although the United hierarchy continues to back the Portuguese tactician publicly, insiders suggest they could be forced to act if performances do not turn around quickly.
Amorim’s current contract runs until the summer of 2027, meaning United would need to pay him off to end his tenure prematurely.
The 40-year-old was appointed last year amid high expectations but is now battling to save his job barely 10 months into the role.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have announced record annual revenues of £666.5 million, even as the club endured one of its bleakest seasons on the pitch in recent history.
Manchester United ended the 2024-2025 Premier League campaign in 15th place, their lowest finish since the relegation season of 1973-74. Yet, off the pitch, the club’s commercial power continues to shine, fuelled by a five-year front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with tech giant Snapdragon.
Commercial income hit £333.3 million, while matchday revenue climbed to an all-time high of £160.3 million for the year ending June 30, 2025.
Chief executive Omar Berrada praised the club’s financial resilience, saying: “To have generated record revenues during such a challenging year for the club demonstrates the resilience which is a hallmark of Manchester United. As we settle into the 2025-26 season, we are working hard to improve the club in all areas.”
Despite the record turnover, United posted a net loss of £33 million. That figure, however, marked a significant 70.8% improvement compared to the previous year’s £113.2 million loss. The club stressed that it remains in compliance with both the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules and UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.
In Deloitte’s January rankings, United were named the fourth richest club in world football, generating £651 million in the previous year. Real Madrid topped the list with £883 million, followed by Manchester City (£708m) and Paris Saint-Germain (£681m).
