Enyimba Release 22 Players, Including Brown Ideye Who Criticised Club Welfare

Ideye Names Remo Stars Favourites To Win NPFL Title This Season

Nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Enyimba FC, have confirmed the release of 22 players from their squad ahead of the 2025/2026 season, with former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, headlining the list.

Brown Ideye’s exit comes weeks after he criticised the club over poor welfare. The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner alleged that Enyimba owed outstanding match bonuses, paid players as little as ₦7,000 daily for meals during away matches, and relied heavily on road transport for trips.

“Because I get money, I should not ask for the one I worked for? Please pay me and the players last season’s match bonuses. @EnyimbaFC, the season ended in May; till now, nothing,” Ideye posted on 𝕏.

Speaking further on a podcast, he added: “If we had a game on Sunday and travelled on Friday, they’d pay ₦7,000 for Friday and Saturday, but on match day, Sunday, you’re on your own.”
