Enugu State Government has commenced its Digital Skill Nigeria (DSN) programme aimed at training 10,000 civil servants before the end of 2024.
The Digital Skill Training commenced with 2000 civil servants in its first batch.
Enugu State said the aim is to modernize the state’s public service and boost economic growth of the state.
According to Special Adviser on Digital Economy and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development, Arize Offia, the training is a partnership programme between the state government, through Enugu State Small and Medium Enterprise Agency and Microsoft, Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy.
The Director-General, Enugu SME Center, said youths of the state would be trained in digital skills as the government concludes its plan to train civil servants.
“ENSG, through Enugu State Small and Medium Enterprise Agency partnering with Microsoft, Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy and Tech4 Development launched the Digital Skills Nigeria (DSN) programme to train civil servants in digital skills. The first batch trained 2,000, with a goal of 10,000 by end-2024, to modernize public service and boost economic growth,” Offia said on Thursday.
On his part, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Peter Mbah, Dan Nwomeh, said the state government would be migrating the state’s civil service to e-governance platforms.
He said the civil servants Digital Skill Nigeria (DSN) programme would make the civil servants adapt to digitization in all aspects of public service.
Nwomeh said, “Enugu Government is migrating the civil service to e-governance platforms.
Our civil servants are acquiring digital skills to easily adapt from age long manual procedures to the digitization and digitalization of all aspects of public service, thanks to the Enugu SME Centre/Office of Digital Economy.“
