The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has yet to issue a statement on the reported arrest of former Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura and his wife, Mairo Al-Makura.
Naija News reports that the former governor and his wife were at the EFCC headquarters to honour the invitation extended to them by the commission.
It was learned that the couple were detained when the operatives of EFCC demanded some explanations from them about the finances of the state but they were unable to answer.
It was further disclosed that the former Governor and his wife are being grilled for misappropriation of funds.
Al-Makura governed Nasarawa between 2011 and 2019 before he was elected as the Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District.
It was gathered that the duo is still at the headquarters of the commission in Abuja at about 10:30 pm.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, has yet to issue a statement on the matter.
