The Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu has called for the need for better coordination of role relationships within government institutions in Nigeria.
This was disclosed in a statement to Naija News by his Media Assistant, Benjamin Atu, on Thursday.
According to Philip Shaibu, proper coordination of government activities is important for effective and efficient service delivery.
He frowned on contradicting and complex relationships among stakeholders in public service with diverse and complicated routes leading to duplication of government efforts.
The Deputy Governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Jimoh Ijegba on Wednesday at the 4th Annual Departmental Lecture with the theme: Managing Role Relationships Among Stakeholders In Public Sector Organizations organized by the Department of the Public Administration University of Benin, called on education stakeholders to intensify efforts through research and human capacity development that help in reducing the high-level tension within stakeholders in public sector organization.
He described the public service as a mandatory institution of states and must synergies between coordinated policies and action.
The deputy governor listed some of the benefits of effective role relationships in public service to include, better and overall resource utilization, quick project completion, effective dissemination of information as well as an enhanced best management practice in public service.
He said Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has established a world-class standard within public institutions in Edo State which can’t be reversed by successive governments.
“Edo has the most motivated public service workers in Nigeria and we are not going to go below the standard,” he stated.
“We have an inspiring working environment both within the state government and in our Local Government areas.
“I thank the management and staff of Uniben and I wish you successful deliberations.”
