The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has imposed a one-month suspension on 87 government officials for failing to attend a key official engagement.
In a statement issued on Monday night by his spokesperson, Monday Uzor, the governor ordered that the affected officials proceed on suspension without salary.
The list includes 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries.
The statement clarified that during the suspension period, the officials are not permitted to sign any official documents. Commissioners have been instructed to hand over their respective documents to their permanent secretaries.
“The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed that the underlisted government functionaries proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary for failure to attend an important government function,” Uzor stated.
Uzor further stressed that the governor remains resolute in ensuring that all government appointees maintain discipline, dedication, and the highest standards of conduct in serving the people of Ebonyi State.
