The Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership officially launched its flagship initiative, the Athena Centre Institutes, at a prestigious event held in Abuja on March 5, 2025. The highlight of the launch was the unveiling of Dr Uzor Ngoladi as the pioneer Director of the Arthur Nwankwo Institute of Education and Intellectual Freedom, one of the key institutes under the Athena Centre umbrella.

The Arthur Nwankwo Institute of Education and Intellectual Freedom is established to honor the legacy of the late Dr. Arthur Nwankwo, a renowned scholar, author, and advocate for social justice, education, and intellectual freedom. The institute aims to promote innovative educational policies, foster intellectual discourse, and advance the cause of sustainable development through research, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives.

In his new role, Dr Uzor Ngoladi, a distinguished academic and policy expert with over two decades of experience in education and development, will lead the institute in its mission to redefine education and intellectual freedom in Nigeria and beyond. Dr Ngoladi’s appointment underscores the Athena Centre’s commitment to excellence and its vision of empowering transformative leaders who can drive meaningful change in society.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Ngoladi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the institute, stating:
