The details of the meeting between Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu and former Governor of the State, Orji Uzor Kalu have emerged.
A statement on Sunday by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barrister Eze Chikamnayo said the two leaders discussed how to work together and move Abia State forward.
As earlier reported by Naija News, Governor Ikpeazu of Abia State on Friday met behind closed doors with the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
In a statement released by Kalu’s media office in Abuja, the governor hosted the Senate Chief Whip at his country home in Umuobiakwa, Obinngwa Local Government Area of the state.
The statement disclosed that Kalu alongside his aides arrived at the governor’s mansion at exactly 1:32 pm and both leaders went into a closed-door meeting some minutes later.
The details of their meeting have now been obtained by this online news platform as contained in the statement by Barrister Chikamnayo.
He said Senator Kalu commended the Abia State Governor for ensuring peace throughout the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He urged Ikpeazu to do more as touching infrastructural developments in the state.
“He observed that as he drove to Obingwa, he was elated by the quality roads that crisscrossed the landscape together with other numerous achievements in the area of SME development, Youth Empowerment, Sports, Agriculture, Education amongst others, thanking Governor Ikpeazu for his untiring efforts towards rebuilding and repositioning Abia for the good of all Abia people.
“Kalu also requested Ikpeazu to extend his caterpillar revolution to the Umuahia-Bende-Akara-Igbere-Ohafua expressway; which the federal government has refused to reconstruct despite repeated appeals by him to the authorities at the federal Ministry of Works,” the statement observed.
On the part of the Governor, the statement quoted him to have appreciated his guest for working with his government to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Abia despite their political differences.
“He appreciated his guest and called on other Abia elites to cooperate with the government in its bid to take Abia to the next level.
“The Governor asserted that he is looking for how to woo all the disgruntled people who are not satisfied with their own party into PDP, a Party Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu said remains the only viable platform that holds the key to the peace and prosperity of Nigeria”, the press release quoted Ikpeazu to have said.
