Two notorious drug traffickers, Ajetsibo Emami, popularly known as Warri Kinsman, and Solomon Akpomuai, have been convicted and sentenced to a combined 10 years’ imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Lagos.
The development was confirmed in a press release on Tuesday, August 19th, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.
Naija News understands that Emami, 37, was arrested on June 28, 2025, in Ikeja after operatives of the NDLEA dismantled his trafficking network during a three-day operation that also led to the arrest of three accomplices.
Recovered from his cartel were 24 jumbo bags containing 681 pouches of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 414.2 kilograms.
According to the NDLEA, intelligence had revealed Emami’s plan to transport the consignment to Lekki for onward distribution across Lagos and other parts of the country.
He was arraigned before Justice Deinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court 8, Lagos, in charge number FHC/L/636C/2025, on a single count of dealing in illicit drugs.
Delivering judgment on Monday, August 18, 2025, Justice Dipeolu convicted him and sentenced him to six years in prison, with an option of a ₦50 million fine.
Similarly, 51-year-old Solomon Akpomuai was arrested on June 3, 2025, by men of the Nigeria Customs Service along the Shagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway with 2,197.8 kilograms of skunk, another cannabis variant.
He was transferred to the NDLEA on June 16, before being arraigned in charge number FHC/L/635C/2025 before Justice Dipeolu.
In his ruling, the trial judge sentenced him to four years in prison with an option of ₦50m fine for trafficking drugs in commercial quantity.
Reacting to the court rulings, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, hailed the outcome as a victory for Nigeria’s anti-narcotics war.
He said: “The conviction of these two drug kingpins is an indication that Nigeria will sooner than later surmount the menace of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking as a result of the positive outcomes of the Agency’s balanced approach to drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts.”
Marwa commended the judiciary, NDLEA officers involved in the investigation and prosecution, and other stakeholders for their commitment to the vision of a drug-free nation.
