The presidency has debunked claims by the founder and former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, that some senior government officials offered him three ministerial slots to decline the use of ADC as opposition coalition platform.
Naija News reports that the revelation emerged as the National Executive Committee (NEC) of ADC formally handed over the party’s leadership to former Senate President David Mark at a meeting, where former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, was also pronounced National Secretary of the party.
Giving insights into how some government officials from the All Progressives Congress (APC), allegedly, tried to stop the establishment of the coalition party, Nwosu confirmed that the party’s NEC was monitored by seven officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, in a post via 𝕏 on Wednesday, stated that Nwosu lied over the statement, stressing that only President Tinubu can make promises of ministerial slots.
Bwala also challenged Nwosu to name the government officials who had promised him ministerial slots.
He wrote, “From his words as reported you know that he lied that senior government officials of @officialABAT administration promised him 3 ministerial slots to not surrender his party to the coalition for a wild goose chase.
FACTS
1. No government official(s) of whatever rank in our government can promise or grant ministerial slots but Mr President.
2. If a promise of ministerial slots would be made to Mr Nwosu, it would be made by the president and to him directly.
3. The same courage he mustered saying he was promised slots by the officials could have been used in mentioning their names and positions in this government.
They are painfully graduating to association of jesters or Association of Disorganised Characters.
