The Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the clash between soldier and operatives of the Eastern Security Network in Orlu area of Imo State.
The former Minister called on President Muhammadu Buhari to deploy the soldier to fight against killer herdsmen and ESN operatives.
It was reported that the clash between members of ESN and soldiers in Okporo, orlu area of Imo State led to the death of one person while many others were injured.
The clash between the security operatives occurred during a military operation in the community suspected to be the operational base of ESN.
Recall that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, recently launched ESN as a regional security outfit.
Fani-Kayode while reacting to the clash on Twitter described it as unfortunate.
“The clash between soldiers and members of ESN in Orlu, Imo State today has resulted in some deaths and this is unfortunate.”
“I call for restraint on both sides. The soldiers ought to be deployed against killer herdsmen and not ESN. When will Buhari learn? Chidera Agu, please stay safe.”
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari-led government on Monday said although the country is facing security issues, the security situation is better than it was during the 2015 government.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, made this claim while speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday.
