One of President Muhammad Buhari’s diehard supporter, Alhaji Abubakar Rabiu, has dumped the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Naija News understands.
The Katsina State-born politician and businessman had before now slaughtered no fewer than eight rams to celebrate anytime President Buhari returns from medical trips.
However, on Tuesday, Rabiu left the incumbent President’s political party to join the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP).
Rabiu is understood to have a large following of which most of them have decamped to the ruling APC.
He has also bought the form to run for the state assembly to represent Dutsin-Ma Local Government constituency under his new party.
Speaking with journalists shortly after receiving the form, Alhaji Albarka said his intention was to contribute to the development of people in his area.
He noted that the ruling APC has not done enough to make life easier and better for the people.
A close associate of his who pleaded anonymity said the way the ruling was killing the political ambition of its followers was one of the reasons why Rabiu left the APC.
He said, “APC has embraced consensus in its primaries and is discouraging and that was why people who have political ambition would believe they have no place in the party.”
