President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of the wife of the founder and chairman of Coscharis Group, Cosmos Maduka.

President Buhari expressed his condolence in a message signed by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Monday.

Mrs Charity Maduka was pronounced dead on Sunday afternoon after suffering a stroke. The late Mrs Maduka is the Vice-president of the Coscharis Group since the inception of the company.

In his condolence message, President Buhari joined friends and associates of the Maduka family and business group in mourning the late matriarch.

He noted that the deceased demonstrated virtues in managing her home and businesses effectively, while he acknowledged Mrs Maduka’s strength and contributions to the Maduka dynasty and country at large.

The Nigerian leader said she worked as a “professional teacher, caterer, administrator and, most significantly, a committed evangelist.”

President Buhari prayed that the almighty God would receive the soul of the departed, and comfort the family.

Naija News reports that Cosmas and Charity got married in 1977. The union is blessed with three sons; Cosmas Jr Maduka, Jonathan Maduka, Peter K. Maduka and a daughter, Charity Ngozi Maduka.

Cosmos in an interview with Plus TV, spoke about the impact his wife had in the early days of his career.

According to Maduka, he met his late wife when he was poor, adding that he believed that she was insane when she insisted on marrying him as her parents belonged to the upper class at that time.

He had said, “Despite all the hurdles, she stuck with me.”

“This is the reason today, she owns a part of the company and has free access to the finances of the company”, Cosmas added.
