Nigerians have slammed their president, Muhammadu Buhari, for hosting some members of the All Progressives Congress national caucus on Sunday at the State House Banquet Hall hours after the Owo massacre that claimed over 50 lives.
Naija News reports that the APC chieftains present at the dinner hosted by President Buhari include the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, former Chairmen, Bisi Akande, John Oyegun, the party’s Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and some APC Governors.
The meeting held despite killing of worshipers at St Francis Catholic Church at Owa-luwa Street, Owo in Ondo State by unknown gunmen.
As earlier reported, unknown gunmen on Sunday attacked the catholic church and killed many worshippers just as the service was nearing its conclusion.
Reacting to the meeting that is said to be part of continued consultations the President is having with various party stakeholders to pick a consensus presidential candidate ahead of the party’s presidential primary election, Nigerians condemned the insensitiveness of the government in holding such meeting despite the devastating state the gruesome massacre left most people in.
Some said it was inappropriate for the government to carry out fancy dinner while the country mourns, while others tagged the president clueless.
