Breaking: Several Soldiers Killed, Others Wounded As Bandits Attack Military Bases In Niger, Kaduna

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday, confirmed that several soldiers lost their lives when armed terrorists attacked forward operating bases in the general areas of Kwanar Dutse Mairiga and Boka Niger State, and Aungwan Turai Chikun LGA of Kaduna State.

According to the Army statement, the attacks occurred on Tuesday, 24th June.

Following the attack by the bandits, the Nigerian Army launched several counterattacks, including land and air responses, leading to the death of scores of bandits in the fierce battle.

Unfortunately, apart from the soldiers who lost their lives, four other soldiers were also wounded in battle and are receiving treatment for gunshot wounds.

“On 24 June 2025, forward operating bases in the general areas of Kwanar Dutse Mairiga and Boka Niger State, and Aungwan Turai Chikun LGA of Kaduna, were attacked by bandits in a 3 pronged attack.

“In response, land and air component troops launched several counter-attacks that eliminated scores of bandits in the encounters.

“Sadly, some gallant warriors paid the supreme price in the day-long battles while four wounded in action troops are currently receiving treatment for their gunshot wounds,” the statement read.

Naija News reports that the Army promised to provide further details on what transpired later.
