A catastrophic incident occurred at Saint Academy in the Busa Buji community of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, where a school building collapsed around 11 am on Friday, trapping numerous students who were engaged in exam activities.
Eyewitnesses reported that the sudden collapse of the structure led to panic, as students were caught under the debris during the examination period.
Immediate rescue efforts were mobilized to aid the trapped students, with emergency teams, including security personnel from the Nigerian Police and Army, swiftly arriving at the scene to coordinate the rescue operations.
As of now, the number of students affected and the cause of the collapse remain unclear.
The news of the collapsed building jolted the community as distraught residents and parents who had their wards in the school were said to have rushed to the institution to ascertain their fate.
According to Punch, many of the residents were seen wailing while security men and emergency workers were busy trying to pull survivors from the rubble.
