The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano has announced that CSP James Nwafor, a notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) officer, will face prosecution.
Obiano made the announcement earlier today after visiting the SARS office in Awkuzu area of the state. The governor has also fired the disgraced police officer who was his SA on security.
Nwafor has been trending on social media since the #EndSARS protests began after being accused of gross misconduct, torture and extra-judicial killings.
Several victims have come out to demand justice revealing troubling information on their encounters with Nwafor.
Obiano’s visit to the facility comes barely 24 hours after highlife music star, Flavour N’abania, Kcee and Zorro led an #EndSARS protest from Awka, the state capital to the SARS office in Awkuzu. The massive crowd were heard chanting ‘EndSARS!, EndSARS!”, demanding a total closure of the Facility. Shortly after, Police officers released gunshots to disperse the protesters.
However, Governor Obiano pledged to visit all the SARS offices in the state to ensure the immediate release of detained Protesters.
