Elections into the Board of the Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Association (CAYWA) was held this morning, with Ben Duntoye, the President of the Nigeria Youth Workers Association NYWA represented Nigeria, and was elected as a member of the Board of the intercontinental body.
You may recall that Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Association is the super structure that houses and brings together national and regional Organisations and is the official voice of Youth Work Professionals in the 52 Member Countries of the Commonwealth.
The General Assembly of CAYWA reelected Prof Robyn Broadbent of Australia as Chairperson among others.
Duntoye, in his reaction after the election, expressed his appriciation to President Buhari and Mr Sunday Dare for the opportunity. He said Nigeria’s election into the Board was basically driven by the support given to Youth Work Practitioners in Nigeria and is a landmark achievements by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development.
By this, Ben Duntoye becomes the first Nigerian to serve in the CAYWA Board since its established in 2017
He further asserted that this development was significant victory for Youth Work in Nigeria and Nigerian Youth whom NYWA work with and for, while pledging to put in his utmost best in ensuring he makes Nigeria proud and use this opportunity wisely to better the lots of Youth Workers and Practitioners in Nigeria.
The Election was supervised by the Commonwealth Youth Programme – CYP.
