BREAKING: Hunger Protests Begin In Ibadan, Oyo State [Photos]

The nationwide protest against the prevalent hunger and scarcity of essential goods throughout the nation has commenced in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Naija News reports that the protest scheduled to last for ten days commenced today across major cities in the country.

Reports revealed that various groups and organizations advocating for the welfare of the populace are leading the ongoing protests in Ibadan.

These groups and organizations have taken their protests to key locations in Ibadan.

It was mentioned that one of the protests began in front of the University of Ibadan a short while ago, while another commenced at Iwo Road.

Additionally, a protest started at Mokola Roundabout and another at Dugbe. One of the protesting groups marched through the University of Ibadan, Bodija, and Secretariat Road.

The procession that was initiated at Mokola Roundabout passed through University College Hospital (UCH), Total Garden, and Agodi Gate.

The protesting groups are currently present in the main areas of the historic city.

Human rights activist, Abiodun Bamgboye, has stated that the protest is expected to continue for ten days.

Bamgboye, representing the group that began their protest at the University of Ibadan, encouraged the state’s residents to brace themselves for the 10-day demonstration.

“This protest is going to last for ten days. We understand that many Nigerians live from hand to mouth. We understand that the majority of our youths have no means of survival. Today, we want our people to prepare. The protest today is just a dressing rehearsal.

“We are converging at the front of the University of Ibadan today and we are aware that other groups are currently at Mokola Roundabout, Iwo Road, Challenge and Dugbe. We will march and sensitise the people on our demands on a daily basis,” he said.
