Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, on Tuesday said President Muhammadu Buhari government would be haunted by the blood of innocent Nigerian youths killed following an order given to military men to attack #EndSARS protesters.
Yesufu further stated that the wailing and the anguish of the families of those killed during the protest would not let Buhari have peace.
The activist stated this while marking the nine months’ remembrance of the #EndSARS protesters killed in Lekki, Lagos State, on October 20.
Nigerians last year marched out to protest against the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
The protests degenerated into a call for the resignation of President Buhari; the end of bad governance; the demand for accountability by government officials, among other things.
The protest was, however, hijacked leading to the destruction of government assets and the attack of homes of some politicians.
The climax of the protest saw military officers allegedly shoot protesters at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos State.
Aisha Yesufu in a post on Twitter on Tuesday said, “Nine months ago unarmed protesters were shot and killed by the government of Muhammadu Buhari.
“The blood of the innocent youth we failed as a Nation shall haunt him till the end of time. In his moment of rest, he shall hear their wailing and the anguish of their families.
