Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has hinted that he may take a shot at the 2023 presidency.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain stated that he has the capacity and qualities to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
He said this on Monday at a special dinner organised in his honour by the Bauchi Christian community at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Bauchi, to celebrate his 63rd birthday.
Mohammed disclosed that he formed a contact group to gauge the pause of members of his party on his presidential ambition and had so far visited 14 states in the country.
The governor said the response from the states so far visited by the contact team has been positive, encouraging and motivating.
Mohammed said he was surprised that a Southern leader yet to be visited by his contact team had said that the governor has the ability to rule the country if Nigerians afforded him the opportunity.
He said: “I formed a contact group to gauge the pause of members of my party on my presidential ambition and they had so far visited 14 states in the country.
“The response from the states so far visited by the contact team was not only positive but also very encouraging and motivating.
“I was surprised and dazed by the encomiums poured on me by a leader in one of the Southern states yet to be visited by the contact team who declared that I have the ability to rule the country if Nigerians afforded me the opportunity.”
Mohammed assured the citizens of his commitment to ensuring that the state becomes prosperous even with the little resources.
“We are putting Bauchi on the threshold of prosperity and we are doing it with the little resources we have because it is not how much you have, but how well you use small resources to impact positively on the growth and development of your immediate community or state,” he said.
