Following the killing of 23 travellers in Sokoto State, Governor Aminu Tambuwal has asked security operatives to treat bandits like Boko Haram terrorists.
Tambuwal, who expressed sadness over the killings, stated that the bandits attack and kill at random irrespective of political differences.
The PDP governor made this on Tuesday when he received a delegation of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) led by its Chairman and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.
According to Tambuwal, bandits do not have any ideological or tribal pursuit, describing the criminals as enemies of humanity.
He, however, asked Nigerians to support President Buhari at all levels in curtailing the activities of bandits and terrorists in the country and appreciated his colleagues for the visit.
Tambuwal said: “In view of the persistent happenings, all hands must be on deck to check the incidents and support President Buhari at all levels on containing the situation.
”The bandits’ intentions and motives are still unravelling. When they attack a community, they kill at random, shoot everybody, irrespective of political differences.
”They do not consider ethnicity, religious or political party differences. They do not have any ideological or tribal pursuit. They are just enemies of humanity. They are supposed to be treated as such decisively. We must all rise to save the situation.”
Speaking, Fayemi expressed condolences to Sokoto state on the recent attacks by bandits, adding that the government will continue to work on measures to address the situation.
He said: ”We stand with governor Tambuwal and other citizens over the sad incident. We shall continue to focus on the ways to curtail the situation and pray to Almighty Allah to stop the menace.
”We are aware of Tambuwal’s parley with President Muhammadu Buhari along with federal government delegation that visited Sokoto on condolence visit and obtained direct situation reports on the incidents.”
