Residents of parts of Sokoto State in northern Nigeria are in shock following a letter allegedly released by bandits threatening to carry out more attacks.
The letter, written in Hausa contained threats to launch attacks on Dange, Shuni, Kwanar Kimba and Rikina. Reports say the letter was found under a tree.
In the letter, the author threatens to attack the towns stating that “A million army personnel will not stop us from carrying out the attack, which may be carried out any moment from now,”
Naija News understands that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area has been informed as well as the head of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security personnel operating with the area.
When Naija News spoke to the state’s Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Sanusi Abubakar he acknowledged the letter noting however that the source and authenticity of the letter could not be confirmed.
He also confirmed that the security operatives in the state had beefed up security in the affected communities.
