Popular Nigerian comedian AY Makun has dismissed claims that he regrets the breakdown of his marriage to his estranged wife, Mabel.
Speaking via an Instagram post, AY denied rumours that he is planning to reconcile with Mabel and get back together.
He warned that he would take legal action against those pushing false narratives about him.
He wrote, “My attention has been drawn to a series of false, incessant, and insensitive social media posts suggesting that I am in a state of regret and seeking reconciliation in my past relationship.
“These publications are deliberately manipulative, calculated to mislead the public, and designed solely for traffic and engagement.
“For clarity, I have never authorized or made any such statements.
“If I wish to communicate my personal position on any matter, I have the platform, the reach, and the credibility to do so directly, not through faceless blogs and rumor-driven platforms.
“This serves as a final warning: all such false narratives should be disregarded by the public.
“Moving forward, the appropriate legal measures will be instituted against individuals, blogs, or platforms that continue to publish, promote, or circulate these defamatory stories. Enough of the lies.”
AY Makun and his wife, Mabel, began showing signs of marital strain in early 2024. Mabel hinted at long-term mental abuse and later confirmed their separation, stressing it was for her safety and peace of mind.
AY admitted the 20-year relationship was “slipping through his hands” but chose not to share details. By April 2024, both publicly confirmed their split, asking for privacy while focusing on their children and moving forward separately.
