Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to reports of ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan escaping death in a ghastly motor accident.
Naija News had reported earlier that Jonathan on Wednesday lost two of his aides in a motor accident.
One of Jonathan’s aides who confirmed the accident earlier said the former president was fine and okay.
The ECOWAS Special Envoy was on his way from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to his Abuja residence when the accident occurred.
The ex-President and his wife, Patience, have reportedly visited the emergency unit of the National Hospital, Abuja where all victims were evacuated after the accident.
Naija News reports that although Jonathan was not admitted into any of the units in the hospital, some members of his team were critically injured.
Reacting to the sad development, Atiku in a Twitter post, expressed gratitude to God for saving the former leader.
The 2023 presidential aspirant, however, sympathized with the family of the deceased.
Atiku tweeted: “This story comes across with a rude shock. We thank God for sparing the life of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“But it is heart wrenching that he lost two of his aides to the auto accident. I console the immediate families of the deceased as well as President Jonathan.
“May the souls of the departed Rest In Peace.”
