Arsenal Sign Cristhian Mosquera, Estupiñán Joins AC Milan, West Ham Eye Callum Wilson

Cristhian Mosquera

Arsenal have bolstered their defensive line with the signing of Spanish sensation, Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia in a deal worth around €15 million.

Cristhian Mosquera, 21, has penned a five-year deal with the option for a further year, becoming the latest addition to Mikel Arteta’s rapidly evolving squad.

Mosquera, who is capable of operating both at centre-back and right-back, is expected to fill the void left by the exit of Takehiro Tomiyasu, who parted ways with the club earlier this month by mutual consent.

Mosquera is a product of Valencia’s youth system. He joined the Spanish outfit at just 12 years old in 2016.

He made his senior debut in 2022, becoming the youngest centre-back to play for the club. Since then, he has clocked up 90 appearances, playing every minute in 37 of Valencia’s 38 La Liga matches last season.

Arsenal have been aggressive in the transfer market this summer, already securing Martin Zubimendi, Christian Nørgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Noni Madueke. Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres is also understood to be on the verge of completing his move to the Emirates.

Mosquera has already been granted permission by Valencia to link up with his new teammates during Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia.

The Gunners edged AC Milan 1-0 in Singapore on Wednesday and are set to face Newcastle United at the same venue on Sunday before taking on rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong.

Estupiñán Seals £17m AC Milan Switch

Brighton’s Pervis Estupiñán has completed a switch to Serie A giants AC Milan in a deal worth £17 million, including performance-based add-ons. The Ecuadorian international has agreed to a contract running until 2030.

The 27-year-old left-back joined Brighton from Villarreal in 2022 and quickly became a mainstay under successive managers, amassing 104 appearances and scoring five goals.

“I have enjoyed working with Pervis and he has made a significant contribution to the club during his time here,” Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler said.

“He is at the stage of his career when he wants a fresh challenge and this opportunity to play in Serie A gives him that.”

Estupiñán played a key role in Brighton’s historic qualification for European football in 2023 and featured regularly again last season as the Seagulls finished eighth in the Premier League.

West Ham in Talks to Sign Free Agent Callum Wilson

West Ham United are in advanced discussions to sign former Newcastle striker Callum Wilson on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old forward left St James’ Park last month after his contract expired, having scored 49 goals in 130 appearances for the Magpies.

Despite a challenging final season plagued by injuries, Wilson remains a proven Premier League scorer and is attracting interest from both English clubs and MLS sides.

Newcastle initially paid around £20 million to sign Wilson from Bournemouth in 2020, but a series of back and hamstring problems limited his appearances. He played just 18 league games last term.
