Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s inability to inspire hope in Nigeria for a brighter future compelled him to leave the party.
Naija News recalls that Amaechi had stated earlier that he is no longer a member of the ruling party, insisting the APC no longer exists.
The former Governor of Rivers State, in his resignation letter to the Chairman of the APC in Ward 8, Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, dated July 1, 2025, described the APC as a party of failure, pain and anguish with no empathy for the masses.
According to Amaechi, his decision to dump the party also stems from his commitment to joining forces with other patriotic Nigerians “to rescue our dear nation from the fangs of failure, pain and anguish which the All Progressives Congress now symbolizes”.
He added, “After a wide range of consultations, I am convinced that this is the appropriate moment to call it quits as the party has derailed from the lofty ideals that birthed its formation and so, can no longer inspire hopes in Nigeria for a greater future. I have therefore, taken a decision to join forces with well meaning compatriots to start a fresh journey for the liberation of Nigeria.”
Amaechi is one of the leaders of the opposition coalition formed to unseat the incumbent government of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
