The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has stated that it is not considering arresting the former first lady of the state Ebelechukwu Obiano; and widow of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Bianca.
The Police spokesperson in Anambra, Ikenga Tochukwu made this known on Thursday following the public altercation between the two women during the swearing-in ceremony for Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the Anambra State Governor.
Though he agreed that what transpired between them could be described as a disturbance of public peace, he stated that the security operatives on ground at the event held at the Government House have already succeeded in bringing the situation under control.
He said since there has been no further escalation after the situation was brought under control, there would be no need for any arrest to be made.
Tochukwu however added that should the need arise for the Police to interphase between the two women, it would be done without hesitation.
“Because of the intervention of security personnel, the quarrel between the two personalities didn’t escalate. Meanwhile, the event continued without any further problems and if there is any need to interface between the two, the Police Command will do so,” the PRO told Punch.
