Former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amuneke said the potential move of Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen to Paris Saint Germain is a welcome development.
Since this week, there have been strong reports that PSG are closing in on securing the services of Victor Osimhen, contrary to initial reports that the 25-year-old striker wanted to play for a Premier League club.
The reports became more concrete when transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano shared on his X page that negotiations between PSG and Osimhen’s representatives were advancing.
Earlier today, Sky Italia reported that Napoli was open to negotiating a transfer fee lower than the €130 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract, which was believed to be the reason why Premier League clubs were unable to make any concrete offer.
Amid that, reports in France and Italy claimed that Victor Osimhen and PSG have already agreed on personal terms which means that once Napoli and the French team agree on a fee, the deal is as good as done.
According to ScoreNigeria, Amuneke, who coached Victor Osimhen at the under-17 level, said he is happy with the star’s decision to join PSG.
“PSG are a big team that plays in the UEFA Champions League, it will be a welcome development if he moved there”, Amuneke said.
“To grow is a welcome development after he has done a lot for Napoli.
“He’s our star, he has to be playing and he knows what he wants.”
Meanwhile, Napoli assistant coach, Cristian Stellini, had said the club would need a striker with the characteristics of Victor Osimhen to replace the Nigeria international at the club.
“For the succession of Osimhen, I would choose an attacker with a strong physical construction, just like Victor,” Stellini said according to the Italian publication, Calcio Mercato.
“And someone who has multiple weapons, such as being able to score goals and making and supporting teammates better in the attack.”
