Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has admitted that his Premier League club, Fulham, were not as consistent as expected and are set to step up in the forthcoming campaign.
Recall that Alex Iwobi joined Fulham from Everton on September 1, 2023, for a transfer fee worth €25.70 million.
In his debut season at the club, Iwobi, who can also play as a left-winger made 33 appearances in all competitions scoring 6 goals and providing two assists.
His effort helped Fulham to finish 13th on the league table with 47 points in 38 games after recording 13 wins, 8 draws, and 17 defeats.
In an interview with The Standard, Alex Iwobi argued that Fulham had enough potential to finish higher on the table. Hence, the goal of the club for next season is to ensure that they finish stronger.
“I can’t wait to get the new season kicked off again,” the 28-year-old Nigeria international said.
“With Fulham, we had a bit of an inconsistent season, but we know how good we are.
“When we were talking at the end of the season, we were thinking, we see the quality in the room, let’s try and push up the table. Everyone is eager and ready to go.”
Note that Alex Iwobi has until June 30, 2028, before his current contract with Fulham expires. His current transfer market value is €25 million.
