Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has described the rumours of his death as wicked and vile.
Some news platforms (not Naija News) had claimed governor Akeredolu was suffering from prostate cancer and had been on life support in a foreign hospital after going into a coma.
But his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, said the rumours are not true as the governor was on the first part of his 2022 annual leave abroad.
However, governor Akeredolu returned to Nigeria on Sunday, April 17, 2022, amidst the rumours of his death.
The Chairman of the South West Governors Forum arrived at the International wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Nigeria at exactly 10:35 pm.
In an interview on the state-owned television station, OSRC, Akeredolu disclosed that he travelled to Germany to rest after the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention in Abuja.
The governor denied rumours that he was bedridden and on life support during his stay in the European country.
He said, “On the 1st of April, I took up my deserved rest in Germany; this is what I have done in the last one week and a half until I heard about this.
“The best way you can describe it is a wicked rumour that I’m not alive. They said I was bedridden, that I was on life support but my support is Christ.”
