An officer of the Nigeria Police Force has been killed by unknown gunmen who stormed Kila, a community between Ogun and Oyo states on Wednesday.
Reports reaching Naija News at this time confirmed that the assailants also kidnapped four Chinese railway workers working on the Lagos-Ibadan railway during the attack.
The police personnel killed was said to be attached to the foreigners. Confirming the incident to reporters, eyewitnesses said the gunmen were dressed in black kaftan when they stormed the site of the rail project at Adeaga/Alaagba and killed the policeman while struggling to abduct the Chinese workers.
They were reported to have laid an ambush in the surrounding forest for the expatriates. On his part, while reacting to the development on Thursday, the police public relations officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the victims were ambushed around the area by eight gunmen.
He added that the tactical team of the command has been mobilised to ensure the rescue of the abducted victims. Oyeyemi said: “The gunmen numbering about eight were said to have invaded Adeaga/Alaagba village, near Kila, in Odeda local government area of the state,”
The police spokesperson added that until the arrest of the perpetrators, nobody can ascertain the identities of the victims.
He assured that the kidnappers would be hunted and brought to justice, to serve as a deterrent to others.
This is coming two days after an attack by unknown gunmen at PGP company in Birnin Tudu, Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State has claimed at least six lives.
Naija News reports that two mobile police officers and two officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were killed during the horrible incident which reportedly happened on Monday, June 14.
