The Confederation Of Africa Football (CAF) has released the Super Eagles of Nigeria schedule for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) qualifiers.
The Super Eagles are looking forward to qualifying for AFCON 2025 after finishing second in the 2023 edition of the competition which took place between January 13 to February 11, 2024.
From September this year, the AFCON 2025 qualifiers will start across the continent as teams fight to be a part of the 24 countries that will battle for the trophy in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
Super Eagles will start their qualification campaign against a very familiar foe, the Benin Republic coached by Nigeria’s former coach, Gernot Rohr.
Note that Rohr led Benin Republic to stun the Super Eagles of Nigeria with a 2-1 win at the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June 2024.
Coincidentally, the two countries will battle again for the AFCON 2025 ticket in Group D. Based on the CAF schedule released today, July 13, Benin Republic are expected to take on the Super Eagles at MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on September 2. The kickoff time is yet to be confirmed.
Following the game, the Super Eagles will fly to Rwanda for their second AFCON 2025 qualification match.
In October 2024, Nigeria will take on Libya (October 7) at home, and then away on October 15. They will then travel to Benin Republic for their return leg against Rohr’s team on November 11, before ending the year and the qualification series with a clash against Rwanda at home on November 19.
