The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named former Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, as its interim National Publicity Secretary.
Naija News reports that Abdullahi replaced Mabel Oboh, whose tenure was marked by what the party described as “outstanding contributions.”
The announcement, made in a statement issued by the party on Saturday, is part of ADC’s efforts to reposition itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oboh, who previously served as ADC’s Publicity Secretary in Lagos State, was lauded for her leadership, particularly in promoting the party’s ideals and improving its connection with the public.
Her transition from state to national leadership was seen as a recognition of her commitment and communication prowess. She was also ADC’s governorship candidate in Edo State in 2020, where she ran a campaign noted for its grassroots engagement.
Following that outing, Oboh served as National Coordinator for the 2023 elections in Lagos, working closely with the State Chairman, George Ashiru, and other stakeholders. Party leaders credit her with significantly increasing the party’s visibility and enhancing its image.
With Abdullahi stepping in, the party signalled a shift toward broader public engagement and digital strategy. Known for his administrative acumen and public service track record, Abdullahi is expected to expand ADC’s reach and strengthen its messaging nationwide.
Abdullahi, who served as Minister of Sports between 2006 and 2007 and as a member of the House of Representatives for Agege Federal Constituency, is no stranger to public office. He is widely respected for his work in governance, youth development, and sports administration.
