Dr. Hussaina Goje, daughter of former Gombe State governor, Senator Danjuma Goje, has resigned as the state commissioner of Environment and Forest Resources.
Dr Hussaina Danjuma Goje tendered her resignation on Saturday evening, a move that appears to be linked to the ongoing feud between her father and Governor Inuwa Yahaya. She resigned the day after the attack on her father, who was prevented from entering Gombe by some political thugs, leading to a rift between his supporters and the other party.
It is alleged that Governor Yahaya’s supporters prevented Senator Goje from entering Gombe on Friday.
After the crisis subsided, the former commissioner was seen with her father as he addressed supporters.
In her resignation letter, the former commissioner thanked Governor Inuwa for allowing her to serve the state in his executive council but said she resigned for personal reasons.
The terse statement reads: “Today Saturday the 6th of November, 2021, I wish to inform the general public and media organisations that I, Dr. Hussaina Goje have tendered my formal resignation from my position as Honourable Commissioner of Environment and Forest Resources to his Excellency, the Executive Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya effective today.
“I also wish to inform that my resignation was made based on personal reasons. With this, I wish to show my appreciation for the opportunity given to me by his Excellency the Executive Governor to serve as a member of his Executive Council in this administration.”
Observers in the state are now waiting to see if Senator Danjuma Goje’s son-in-law, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dasuki Jalo and other Goje loyalists in Inuwa Yaha’s government will follow suit.
