Google accused the EU Thursday of putting Europeans’ privacy at risk after Brussels told the US giant to share search data and open up its Android operating system to AI rivals.

“Today’s decisions risk undermining vital privacy and security guardrails for millions of Europeans,” Google’s head of global affairs, Kent Walker, said.

The EU demanded on Thursday that Google must share search data with other search engines and open up its Android operating system to rival AI services.

“Thanks to these measures we hope to see emerging alternatives to Google Search and Google’s AI services, such as Gemini, and that users in the EU can enjoy greater choice of services,” EU tech chief Henna Virkkunen said.
