A coalition of women under the platform, Renewed Hope Women of Faith in Politics, has intensified mobilisation efforts in support of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The gathering, held in Port Harcourt, attracted participants from diverse religious and political backgrounds, highlighting its interfaith focus on unity, national development, and grassroots engagement.
Powered by Rivers Women Unite for SIM, the initiative was described as a strategic platform aimed at bringing women together across the country as a unified force committed to prayer, advocacy, and civic responsibility.
Speaking at the event, the convener, Chief Sotonye Toby, said the platform is designed to function as a nationwide network of women committed to promoting peace, stability, and good governance.
She emphasised the importance of sustained prayer as a tool for national transformation, particularly in challenging times.
According to her, women play a critical role in nation-building, contributing significantly across sectors such as education, business, entrepreneurship, and politics, while also maintaining family responsibilities.
“In our diversity lies our strength. As women of faith, we must unite across religious and political lines to build a stronger, more inclusive Nigeria,” she said.
Toby noted that beyond its spiritual focus, the initiative is anchored on active civic engagement, especially at the grassroots level.
She added that the group aims to mobilise and empower women, positioning them as key drivers of peace and development.
Reaffirming the group’s political stance, she declared support for the re-election of President Tinubu, aligning with the ideals of the All Progressives Congress and its Renewed Hope agenda.
“We recognise the importance of continuity in leadership and the need to support governance that promotes stability, growth, and national development. As women, we stand firmly behind the President as we look ahead to 2027,” she stated.
She also highlighted the power of unity among women, noting that collective action can strengthen communities and drive national progress.
Toby commended participants for their commitment and urged women across all levels to actively participate in shaping Nigeria’s future.
She further lauded the leadership of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and President Tinubu for their commitment to governance and development.
The event concluded with a call for sustained unity and continued prayers for peace, prosperity, and stability in Nigeria.
