In a new push on local content, Dangote Cement Plc has inducted almost 200 newly trained engineers and professionals into its workforce after the completion of its 18-month Graduate Trainee Programme.

In a statement, the company said many of the graduates have already been integrated into its operations in Nigeria and other African countries, positioning them for long-term leadership roles within the group.

The trainees, drawn from engineering, finance, IT, and other disciplines, underwent a structured development process combining classroom learning at the Dangote Academy with hands-on experience across the company’s four cement plants and its head office.

Managing Director and CEO, Arvind Pathak, said the induction ceremony was organised to celebrate both the new recruits and long-serving employees who have contributed to the company’s growth.

“Despite the economic turbulence, your resilience and tenacity enabled us to overcome numerous challenges and achieve our objectives,” Pathak said, adding that the company posted a strong performance in 2025 despite a difficult operating environment.

He noted that Dangote Cement remains Africa’s leading cement producer and is targeting a production capacity of 90 million metric tonnes per annum by 2030, having transformed Nigeria into a net exporter of cement to neighbouring countries.

Ahmed Ladan Gobir, the acting group human resources officer, described the Graduate Trainee Programme as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s youth.

“Nigeria’s greatest asset is its young people, and we are deliberate about empowering them with world-class skills and deep industry exposure,” he said.

The company also honoured staff members with Long Service and Hall of Fame awards, recognising employees who have served for at least five years and demonstrated excellence and leadership.

Four graduate trainees were singled out for exceptional performance, with projects ranging from plant optimisation and equipment alignment to the installation of management information systems at the Obajana and Okpella plants.
