Tinubu’s Aide, Ja’oji, Appoints DGs, Media Aides

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Bola Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Nasir Ja’oji, has announced the appointment of directors-general and several media aides to work in his office.

In a document obtained by TheCable, Ja’oji named Ibrahim Farouk as Director-General on Political Matters and Ahmad Saleh as Director-General on Media and Digital Communication.

The presidential aide also appointed five other officials to strengthen his media team. They include:

Muhammad Sabiu Adam – Special Assistant on Media

Abbas Uba – Technical Assistant on Media

Mustapha Yusuf Waziri – Media Aide I

Usman Shuaibu – Media Aide II

Safiyanu Mohammed Yunusa – Media Aide III

Ja’oji explained that the appointments were based on “integrity, excellent performance records, and hard work.”

The appointments have sparked debate in political circles, as a Director-General traditionally outranks an SSA in Nigeria’s government structure. Critics have raised questions about why Ja’oji, a presidential aide, would create DG positions under his office.

President Tinubu appointed Ja’oji as SSA on Citizenship and Leadership in August, replacing Rinsola Abiola, who was elevated to the role of Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC).

Before his current role, Ja’oji served as Special Adviser on Mobilisation to Abdullahi Ganduje, former governor of Kano State.
