The Aviation unions in Nigeria have suspended their planned nationwide strike, which was earlier scheduled to commence on Monday, 11th August.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the development in a statement shared via his 𝕏 account on Sunday.
Naija News reports the unions, made up of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSAN), Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) and the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical And Recreational Services Employees (AUCPTRE), disclosed in a statement that the planned strike is being suspended due to positive feedbacks on their greivances after the intervention of some stakeholders.
The unions submitted that the strike has been suspended in good faith to allow for government efforts in resolving the situation.
The notice from the Aviation unions added that the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has assured its staff on efforts to ensure payment of the new remunerations along with their August salaries.

Similarly, the Aviation Minister also confirmed the suspension of the strike.
Keyamo, in a statement via his 𝕏 account, expressed happiness that the unions have suspended the planned strike.
He added that efforts are ongoing to ensure all issues in the aviation sector are addressed and resolved.
“We are happy to announce that, after our intervention, the planned strike by the Aviation Unions due to commence tomorrow has been shelved.
“The unions comprising the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP), Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUCPTRE) issued a joint statement suspending the strike.
“Given my long relationship with labour Unions, I have continued to work with our Comrades to find lasting solutions to issues that have been pending in the sector long before we came to office and by showing absolute good faith, the issues would be resolved one by one,” he wrote.
