The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a tentative fare of ₦8.5 million for the 2026 Hajj exercise, subject to final negotiations on service contracts.
The disclosure was made in a statement issued by the Assistant Director of Information and Publication at NAHCON, Fatima Sanda Usara, following a post-Hajj meeting with Chairmen and Secretaries of State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards to assess the 2025 Hajj operations and plan ahead.
According to the statement, Nigeria’s Hajj slot allocation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains at 95,000 pilgrims, the same as last year. Similarly, state allocations have not been altered.
NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his consistent support of the Commission and Nigerian pilgrims.
He noted that the Federal Government’s intervention, which enabled Hajj carriers to accept payments in Naira, shielded intending pilgrims from the harsh realities of foreign exchange volatility.
At the meeting, the Commissioner in charge of Planning, Research and Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS), Prof. Abubakar Abubakar Yagawal, led discussions on the 2026 Hajj Calendar, while Commissioner of Operations, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, steered deliberations on logistics and operational matters.
Prince Elegushi proposed the rollover of contracts for the four airlines that operated during the 2025 Hajj, citing time constraints, bureaucratic bottlenecks, and the alignment of preparations with the Saudi Hajj calendar.
According to him, early confirmation of airlift arrangements would help Nigeria secure air slots ahead of schedule and avoid last-minute complications.
While the ₦8.5 million figure provides early guidance for prospective pilgrims, Usara clarified that the fare remains tentative pending the conclusion of negotiations on accommodation, feeding, air travel, and other service contracts both within and outside Nigeria.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a smooth, affordable, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for all Nigerian pilgrims.
