The vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has stated that Peter Obi has not joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Baba-Ahmed added that the coalition movement is not a political party and Peter Obi remains a member of the Labour Party.
Naija News reports he said this on Monday while addressing newsmen shortly after attending the Labour Party National Executive Council meeting of the Julius Abure faction of the party.
He submitted in response to inquiries during the press briefing that, should Obi emerge as the ADC presidential candidate for 2027, the next line of action would be revealed at that time.
“To the best of our knowledge, his excellency, Peter Obi, my boss, the 2023 presidential candidate is still a member of Labour Party. He attended just like I did, the talks of coalition. Coalition is not a political party and he has not become a member of ADC. This is to the best of my knowledge.
“So what you are asking is, in theory, if he does get the ticket of the ADC and in theory I will tell you when we get there, we will decide,” Baba-Ahmed submitted.
Responding to rumours of a fight or fallout between himself and Obi, Baba-Ahmed disclosed that there is nothing of the sort and that there will be no crack in their relationship.
“My friend, you are saying if there’s a crack. There’s no crack and by the grace of God, there will never be a crack between us. We are solidly together,” he submitted.
