Transfer: Waliu Ojetoye Heads To Israel, Rashford Seals Barca Move, Osimhen Clears Way For Morata’s Como Switch

Ikorodu City captain, Waliu Ojetoye, is set to begin a new chapter in his career after agreeing to a one-year loan move with an option to buy at Israeli outfit Hapoel Jerusalem.

Waliu Ojetoye, who played a key role in helping Ikorodu City gain promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in 2023, has now opted for foreign adventure.

The right-back’s departure effectively rules him out of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), where he was previously included in Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle’s provisional squad.

Note that Waliu Ojetoye played for the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the first time in his career, during the Unity Cup held in London earlier in May.

Elsewhere in North Africa, Nigerian forward John Ebuka has completed a permanent switch to Egyptian Premier League side Al Ittihad. He signed a two-year deal with the club.

Ebuka arrives from Al Masry, where he made a dozen league appearances, scoring once during a short loan stint. The 28-year-old will reunite with coach Ahmed Sami, under whom he previously worked at Ceramica Cleopatra.

This move marks Ebuka’s fifth club in Egypt over the last five seasons. He will team up with fellow Nigerian Isaac Saviour at the Alexandria-based club.

Rashford’s Barcelona Move Sparks Mixed Reactions

Marcus Rashford is on the verge of securing a loan move to FC Barcelona from Premier League side, Manchester United.

The England international accepted a 15% pay cut to secure the deal. The paperwork has been finalised and the player is expected in Spain over the weekend for his medical.

Osimhen’s Transfer Opens Door for Morata

Over in Turkey, Victor Osimhen’s big-money move to Galatasaray from Napoli is nearly wrapped up, with final details expected to be signed off in the coming days.

The Nigerian striker’s arrival now clears the way for Álvaro Morata to complete his long-awaited move to Como in Serie A.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed this via a post on 𝕏: “Álvaro Morata, now set to join Como from Galatasaray as soon as all documents for the Osimhen deal will be signed next week. Morata has been waiting for Como for one month… and now, all set.”

Morata has already agreed personal terms with Como, marking a return to Italian football where he previously starred for AC Milan.

Suárez to Sporting, Man City Eye Diogo Costa

Sporting CP are close to wrapping up a deal for Luis Javier Suárez from Almeria, as talks reportedly advanced rapidly in the past 24 hours. Romano hinted the deal could be finalised this week.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are preparing a €60 million plus add-ons bid for Porto’s goalkeeper Diogo Costa, as uncertainty lingers around Ederson’s potential move to Galatasaray.

The Cityzens face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who are also targeting the Portuguese international.
