A video has emerged online, in which the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, during the Constitution Review Zonal Public Hearings in Owerri, mistakenly referred to President Bola Tinubu as the former President and a deceased individual.
The event, held on Saturday, July 19, brought together delegates from Imo and Abia states to discuss constitutional reforms.
However, Uzodinma’s solemn prayer took an unexpected turn when he made a slip of the tongue that has since triggered reactions online.
Naija News reports that Uzodinma, while offering prayers for the demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari, said, “May the soul of former President Bola…” before pausing briefly.
He then continued, “Former President Muhammadu Buhari, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.”
Recall that former President Muhammadu Buhari died in London after a prolonged illness and was buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

In other news, Uzodimma, has urged the National Assembly to correct what he described as years of “imbalance and exclusion” against the South-East region.
Speaking at the South-East Zonal Public Hearing on the 1999 Constitution Review for Imo and Abia States held in Owerri, Uzodimma outlined key expectations of the region, top of which is the creation of at least two additional states for the zone.
He said, “The South-East remains the only zone with just five states. Every other zone has six or more.
“This imbalance has led to underrepresentation in critical national institutions, from the National Assembly to the Federal Executive Council. It has shrunk our voice and abridged our inclusivity.”
