American rap icon, Snoop Dogg, has officially become a co-owner of English Championship football club, Swansea City.
Swansea City confirmed Snoop Dogg’s stake in the club on Thursday, revealing the 53-year-old rapper has joined the club’s ownership group alongside Croatian midfielder, Luka Modrić.
The move, described as the beginning of “the next episode” by the club’s hierarchy, comes days after Snoop Dog was spotted modelling the club’s 2025-2026 home kit on social media.
“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus, said via the club’s official website.
“The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”
Snoop Dog’s arrival comes months after American entrepreneurs Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen took control of Swansea in November.
With over 100 million followers across his social media platforms, the West Coast rap veteran brings a powerful media machine capable of expanding the club’s global reach.
The timing couldn’t be more strategic. Swansea, relegated from the Premier League in 2018, are seeking both a return to top-flight football and fresh financial fuel to compete under English football’s tightening profit and sustainability regulations.
“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club’s reach and profile,” the club’s ownership group said.
“Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.”
This is not Swansea’s first celebrity power move in 2025. In April, Luka Modrić, fresh off ending his legendary run at Real Madrid, invested in the club shortly before signing with AC Milan.
The deal also draws comparisons to Wrexham, Swansea’s Welsh rivals, whose fame grew significantly in the English football pyramid since actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club in 2020.
