Manchester City have shattered Premier League records with a jaw-dropping new kit deal reportedly worth £1 billion, extending their partnership with German sportswear giant Puma for another decade.
The blockbuster agreement, running through 2035, is said to rake in £100 million annually for Manchester City, an astronomical jump from their previous £65 million-per-year contract signed in 2019.
The deal, first reported by British media, makes it the richest kit manufacturing agreement in Premier League history, eclipsing even Manchester United’s £90 million-a-year pact with Adidas signed in 2023.
In global football terms, the deal now puts City on par with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, who also boast kit partnerships north of the £100 million mark annually.
Chief Executive of City Football Group, Ferran Soriano, hailed the renewed alliance: “We joined forces with Puma with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond expectations. We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons,” he said.
“Puma have seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we have enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally.”
Arthur Hoeld, CEO of Puma, echoed the enthusiasm: “Puma’s partnership with Manchester City has been a great success both on and off the pitch. Trophies, a perfect stage for our performance products and commercial success were exceptional.”
The record-smashing agreement comes at a time of transition for City. For the first time since the 2016–17 season, Pep Guardiola’s side ended the campaign without a major trophy.
After a dominant four-year title streak, City finished third in the Premier League, lost the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace, and suffered an early Club World Cup exit to Al-Hilal.
Still, City’s brand power remains unmatched. This new deal not only underlines the club’s commercial dominance but also reinforces its global appeal, even during seasons when the silverware dries up.
