‘I Brought Him Up In Politics, Who Is He?’ – Amaechi Blasts Wike

Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing him of disrespect and daring him to a public popularity test.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Amaechi questioned Wike’s loyalty and humility, claiming he mentored the FCT Minister politically.

Amaechi challenged Wike to a barebones walk from Abuja to Port Harcourt to determine who truly commands the people’s respect and support.

He said, “Let the Minister of the FCT come, let’s take a walk from the airport to Port Harcourt, no police, no army, nothing, just the two of us.”

The former governor wondered why Wike continued to disrespect him despite their shared political history.

“I don’t know why he doesn’t respect people like us; I am older. I brought him up in politics. Who is he?” Amaechi asked.

Naija News reports that Amaechi also confirmed that he has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a party he helped form in 2013.

“I am no longer in APC. I resigned on Tuesday,” he announced during the interview.

Naija News understands that Amaechi, following his registration from the ruling party, has joined the African Democratic Party (ADC), the party adopted by the coalition against Bola Tinubu.
