German Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of Liverpool defender, Jarell Quansah for a transfer fee worth £35 million.

Jarell Quansah, 22, has signed a five-year deal with Bayer Leverkusen and the contract comes with a £5 million add-on.

Naija News gathered that the deal also comes with a buy-back clause with a pre-agreed fee.

Quansah, a Liverpool academy player, made 58 appearances for the club, scoring three goals before he decided to play outside England.

He was part of the Liverpool squad that won the League Cup in 2024 and the English Premier League last season, a feat he achieved with just 13 league appearances.

The centre-back was part of the England under-21 squad that defeated Germany in the European Under-21 Championship final in June.

“I was able to get a good impression of the team and the club when we met LFC in the UCL vs. Bayer Leverkusen last season. A great team. It’s a great task and challenge for me to become part of Leverkusen’s current upswing,” Jarell Quansah said after sealing the move.

Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes said, “He has already made an impressive impact in a Liverpool defence dominated by world-class players.”

“With Jarell, our defence gains significant dynamism, pace and toughness in tackling, and he’s another very important building block for the future.”
