Business Registration To Now Take 30-Minutes As CAC Launches AI-Powered Portal

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has inaugurated the pilot phase of its new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered company registration portal, a move aimed at simplifying and accelerating the business registration process in Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the CAC Registrar-General, Malam Hussaini Magaji (SAN), confirmed this development at the 2025 Stakeholders’ Forum held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 2, by the Commission, Magaji described the development as a breakthrough in Nigeria’s efforts to improve ease of doing business, noting that the upgraded portal represents a total overhaul of the existing Company Registration Portal (CRP).

“This is a significant milestone in Nigeria’s business facilitation journey,” Magaji said.

He explained that the new AI-driven platform allows for instant name reservation approvals, comparing the ease to setting up an email account.

“Another innovation is the ability to register a business using only the National Identification Number (NIN) of a director or proprietor,” he said.

According to him, the CAC is targeting a 30-minute completion time for business registration and certificate generation, subject to real-time NIN validation.

Magaji added that the system is equipped to suggest alternative business names in real time and approve available ones instantly, eliminating previous delays in the name search process.

The CAC boss assured stakeholders that the portal would cut through bureaucratic red tape and bring Nigeria’s business registration process in line with global best practices.

The AI-powered registration platform is expected to fully roll out after the pilot phase, with hopes that it will drastically reduce processing time and increase business formalisation in Nigeria.
