Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq Reacts To Outcome Of 2025 President Federation Cup

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has taken to his official 𝕏 handle to congratulate the state’s men’s football club, Kwara United for winning the 2025 President Federation Cup.

Naija News had earlier reported that Kwara United, who had a very difficult 2024-2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, defeated Abakaliki FC in the final of the President’s Federation Cup at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos, on Saturday, via penalties.

Governor Abdulrazaq watched the game from the stands alongside Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Nigeria Football Federation president, Ibrahim Gusau, and other dignitaries.

The presence of the governor inspired his team to defeat the Ebonyi State-based club 4-3 on penalties after a hard-fought 0-0 draw in regulation time.

Following the win which gave Kwara United a chance to represent Nigeria in the 2025-2026 CAF Confederation Cup, Governor Abdulrazaq said he is “overwhelmed with joy” over the triumph.

He added, “I wholeheartedly salute the players, the coaching crew, the management of Kwara United, the Sports Commission, and our supporters’ club for this remarkable feat. I am particularly grateful to the people of our state, including Kwarans in Diaspora, for their overwhelming support for the team.

“This win again testifies to the power of team spirit, discipline, determination, and grit.

“Our victory over the Abakaliki FC comes on the heels of yet another win as our contingent at the Senior President Debate Competition has emerged the national champion for the first time ever.”
